I like to jump on my paddleboard and go fishing

Jared Shaw is a self described tech entrepreneur, growth hacker and analytics junkie. Essentially he looks for ways to help companies grow into new and emerging markets. Shaw works remotely from my home/office in Qualicum Beach and was involved in launching the new Digital Media Studio in Qualicum Beach.

Jared and his wife moved to Vancouver from Winnipeg 7 yrs ago and then to Qualicum Beach a few years ago. They were looking for a more affordable, outdoor lifestyle for their three kids and a greater sense of community.

“In the middle of my day I like to jump on my paddleboard and go fishing, throw down my crab trap or hang out with the kids.” Our kids come first, that’s why I work from home.”

They moved to Qualicum Beach for the lifestyle, the outdoors, quality of life, and a community of like-minded people with shared values.

When they first moved to the area, they didn’t know anyone. Shaw helped organize a one-day digital media summit that attracted about 140 people - game developers, digital artists, movie industry people and lots more. He and several others have created the Oceanside Digital Media Meetup and there’s now a lot of collaboration going on within the group.
