The Parksville - Qualicum Beach. region is home to eight provincial parks and five regional district parks. Many other green spaces have been set aside to protect cascading waterfalls, networks of caves, historic homesteads, unique gardens and - in the case of Cathedral Grove - a rare stand of old-growth Douglas Fir – with trees as old as 800 years.

One regional park, Mount Arrowsmith Massif Regional Park, is part of an area that has been designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a biosphere reserve – one of 13 in Canada and among only 500 in the world.

Whether you prefer the thrill of rock climbing, spelunking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, mountain biking, and hiking or a relaxing round of golf on one of the seven Parksville - Qualicum Beach golf courses, it's easy to enjoy a range of activities all year-round.

Mount Washington in the nearby Comox Valley is Vancouver Island's year-round alpine destination. Winter activities include downhill and cross country skiing as well as snowboarding, snowshoeing and snow tubing. In the spring and summer, visitors can enjoy zip lining, mountain biking and hiking.

An easy day trip takes you to the famous Pacific Rim National Park with Long Beach, Tofino and Ucluelet. Long Beach is renowned as the longest stretch of surf-swept sand on Vancouver Island's west coast and attracts surfers and vacationers from all over the world.
